FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT CHECKLIST
Over the next year, we will be looking in greater detail at formative and summative assessment strategies. We will consider ways to communicate assessment results to improve student learning and our own teaching practices. Ultimately, you will come up with a plan to implement/improve performance-based assessment strategies in one of your courses. To do this, it is important to focus your attention on one course to examine closer, evaluate, and make improvements. Later, you can apply the knowledge you've gained and improvements you made in this course to positively impact future courses.
The following survey is for you to do some reflection about one specific course that you teach. You should choose a course that you expect to teach frequently or is a fundamental part of your instruction at CVTC. With the course identified, complete the survey. As you answer each question, consider how you facilitate (or plan to facilitate) assessments in your course. Do not worry if you feel like you do not have a solid plan for all criteria in the survey. This simply indicates areas where we can have some thoughtful discussion about what improvements you may try to make.
